Established in 1906, the IES is the technical and educational authority on illumination. The Society’s diversified membership including engineers, architects, designers, educators, students, contractors, distributors, utilities, manufacturers, and scientists in 64 countries contributing to the Society’s mission: to improve the lighted environment by bringing together those with lighting knowledge and by translating that knowledge into actions that benefit the public. The IES is a nonprofit professional society publishing American National Standards for lighting including ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1, a benchmark for U.S. commercial building energy codes and a key basis for codes and standards worldwide for more than 35 years.
